Amazon has begun adding Whole Foods private label products to its food offerings in Germany, Spain, Italy, and France.
The initial range consists essentially of products such as organic dried fruit, rice and couscous, and is shipped via the United Kingdom, where Whole Foods has seven stores operating. In this market, the online offering is significantly larger.
This is the first foray into continental Europe by the brand acquired by Amazon, and it remains uncertain what Jeff Bezos' company intends to do with these assets in this market.
Amazon has also launched a new pet food brand called Lifelong. The products are manufactured by the Spanish company Grupo Bynsa, which also supplies other major retailers, such as Mercadona.
