Carrefour continues to launch new store models across Europe. The latest launches feature Italy and Belgium as the main players in the hypermarket and supermarket channels, respectively.
Specifically, Carrefour Italy has renovated a hypermarket in the city of Portogruaro, aiming to simplify the shopping experience. The store has five thousand square meters and offers around 20 items focused on quality, organic foods, and takeaway. This new hypermarket model features more than 2.400 fresh products and four thousand items sold at discounted prices.
The fruit and vegetable section has been expanded to accommodate a wider range of organic products, including items from over 100 local suppliers. The store also includes a pharmacy, optician, laundry, and sushi bar.
Another feature of the point of sale is a space called Barilla Pasta Corner, developed in conjunction with the Italian pasta manufacturer. This catering concept offers customers a variety of pasta dishes that can be consumed on-site.
On the other hand, Carrefour Belgium announced its plans to open 100% organic stores next June. Initially, the chain will debut five supermarkets under this model in major urban areas.
Furthermore, the retailer will also test an automated store in the Belgian market, under the Carrefour Express banner, which will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. " The customer will enter and indicate on a screen what they wish to buy. After payment, a machine will prepare their order immediately ," sources from the group indicate.
