The Lactogal Group brands won six awards at the 17th edition of the Portuguese Cheese Competition, promoted by the National Association of Dairy Industries (ANIL).

Queijos Santiago was the most awarded brand in this edition, with five awards, while Milhafre dos Açores won in the New Flavors category. The awards ceremony took place on October 28th at WOW, in Vila Nova de Gaia.

“ Seeing six of our products recognized in the same edition is a source of great pride for the entire Lactogal team. These awards acknowledge the work we do every day and cover products from different categories, which makes this result even more special. We also receive it as an incentive to continue developing our offering ,” says Pedro Cunha, Senior Brand Manager at Lactogal.

Six distinctions

Queijos Santiago's products were recognized in five categories: Fresh Goat Cheese, with Queijo Fresco Santiago; Regular Cured Cow's Cheese, with Alavão; Long-Cured Sheep's Cheese, with Serramonte; Regular Cured Goat Cheese, with Quinta do Olival; and Spreadable Cheese, with Queijo Fresco para Barrar Original.

In the New Flavors category, the award was given to Graciosa Island Cheese with Pimenta Terra, from Milhafre dos Açores. Launched in May of this year, the product combines cheese of Azorean origin with Pimenta da Terra, a spicy and aromatic paste of ripe red peppers ground with salt, typical of the Azores.

Promoted annually by ANIL, the Portuguese Cheese Competition distinguishes national cheese production and gives visibility to the diversity of products and categories in the sector. In the 2026 edition, 55 companies participated.
