Continente launches new chocolates with certified cocoa.

Continente has launched a new range of chocolate bars with original recipes that include cocoa from certified sustainable sources.

Available in five varieties – Dark Chocolate (72%), Dark Chocolate with Whole Almonds, Milk Chocolate with Whole Almonds, Milk Chocolate with Whole Hazelnuts, and Milk Chocolate with Raisins and Whole Hazelnuts – these chocolates can be found in all Continente, Continente Modelo, and Continente Bom Dia stores. Each bar weighs 200 grams and costs €1,59.

To develop the range, the brand relied on a panel of selected customers who conducted over 300 quality tests on the new chocolates. “ It’s important for the Continente brand to offer high-quality products that are accessible to Portuguese families. We decided to test the new bars with our customers, who are the most rigorous evaluators we can have. Only after passing the consumer test do we know that the product will be well-received in stores. In addition to quality, we decided to use 100% sustainably sourced cocoa, with UTZ certification, which guarantees responsible agricultural production and supply, without harming the environment or exploiting labor, respecting fair trade rules ,” explained Ana Alves, Commercial Director of Continente Private Labels.

The new UTZ-certified chocolate bars guarantee raw material suppliers training on good agricultural practices, business management, labor protection, and environmental management, with the aim of enabling them to cultivate cocoa beans more professionally, with higher quality, obtain greater yields, and ensure a commitment to sustainability.
