ASAE seizes more than 27 tons of fish products.

The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) seized more than 27 tons of fishery products, including octopus, squid, hake, salted fish, eels, canned goods, cod, and pollock, with a value exceeding 100 euros.

In recent weeks, ASAE, through a specialized inspection brigade for industries of animal origin products from the Central Regional Unit, has carried out several inspection actions targeting fish processing industries located in the municipalities of Aveiro, Cantanhede and Condeixa, in order to guarantee compliance with general requirements in terms of Food Safety.

As a result of these actions, three administrative offense proceedings were initiated for placing fishery products on the market without identification marks, for warehousing in an unauthorized establishment, and for non-compliance with labeling rules for fishery products. The activity of a fishery processing industry was also suspended because it was operating as a warehousing facility without the required authorization.
