Aquasorgal has obtained the ASC Feed Standard certification, issued by DNV, reinforcing its position among aquaculture producers working in international markets with increasing sustainability and traceability requirements.
The certification was awarded on September 29th, during Aquaculture Europe 2026, held in Slovenia, where the company also participated as an exhibitor.
According to the company, the benchmark recognizes that the aquaculture food production system meets demanding criteria in areas such as responsible sourcing, traceability, environmental performance, and social responsibility throughout the supply chain.
Certification makes it easier to respond to more demanding markets.
For Aquasorgal customers, certification allows them to purchase food produced in an ASC-certified factory, which can facilitate compliance with the producers' own certification requirements.
The company emphasizes that sustainability, traceability, and responsible sourcing are now playing an increasingly important role in accessing international markets for seafood products. "With this certification, Aquasorgal reinforces its ability to support clients in meeting the evolving requirements of global aquaculture markets ," states António Isidoro, CEO of Aquasorgal.
The strategy is based on raw materials and the supply chain.
Obtaining the certification is part of a broader company strategy that includes investments in supply chain control and transparency, raw material selection, food safety, nutritional performance, and continuous improvement of production processes.
Aquasorgal emphasizes that, in the aquaculture sector, the origin and availability of raw materials of marine, plant, and animal origin are increasingly crucial for reconciling nutritional performance and sustainability.
The new certification complements other benchmarks already held by Aquasorgal, including GlobalG.AP and NP 4457 – Research, Development and Innovation Management System.
