Huawei has repeatedly polished the entire hinge system to improve durability and drop resistance. The system, which combines a variety of high-precision materials, was developed using the MIM process, resulting in a 62% improvement in impact resistance and a 33% increase in stress resistance.
To improve the lifespan of the Huawei P50 Pocket, the R&D team introduced a carbon coating with a hardness comparable to that of sapphires. Furthermore, it is also a self-lubricating material, ensuring a smooth and wear-resistant hinge.
Battery size and lifespan
To make the Huawei P50 Pocket smaller, Huawei engineers reorganized its components. The interior was redesigned with an integrated structure, reducing the width. By maximizing the available space, the R&D team created a smartphone with greater capacity, achieving a balance between battery life and size.
