Mastercard announces Nuno Loureiro as the company's new Country Manager in Portugal, effective May 1, 2025.

Nuno Loureiro is returning to Mastercard, where he previously served as an account manager in the Portuguese market between 2011 and 2019, and later as director of Mastercard Advisors for Spain and Portugal. For the past six years, he was Director of Payments at Santander, where he contributed to the management, innovation, and development of new payment businesses for the bank in Portugal.

The new Country Manager of Mastercard Portugal will be responsible for accelerating the innovation and digitalization of payments, promoting partnerships with stakeholders in the national market. Furthermore, their objective will be to implement Mastercard's services and solutions that offer a better payment experience through fast, simple, and secure transactions.

Nuno Loureiro possesses a deep understanding of the Portuguese financial landscape, coupled with a global perspective on the payments business, making him the ideal leader to strengthen Mastercard's presence and accelerate the company's growth in Portugal.

Nuno Loureiro holds a degree in Management from Nova School of Business and Economics; a specialization in Banking Management from Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics; and an MBA from IE Business School.
