Nestlé has announced the appointment of Philipp Navratil as the company's new CEO, effective immediately. The decision follows the departure of Laurent Freixe, who was removed after an internal investigation revealed a violation of the Company's Code of Conduct, related to an alleged undisclosed relationship with a direct subordinate.
Career path within Nestlé
Philipp Navratil, who has been with Nestlé since 2001, began his career as an internal auditor and, over more than two decades, has held various leadership positions in different markets and product categories. In 2009, he was appointed general manager of Nestlé Honduras and, in 2013, he took over the leadership of the coffee and beverage unit in Mexico, playing a key role in consolidating the Nescafé brand in that country.
Most recently, he led the Strategic Coffee Business Unit, with global responsibility for the Nescafé and Starbucks brands, licensed by Nestlé. In July 2024, he was appointed CEO of Nestlé Nespresso SA, where he led a phase of strong growth and innovation. Since January 1, 2025, he has been a member of the Nestlé Executive Board.
Nestlé's Chairman of the Board, Paul Bulcke, emphasized that the new CEO brings " an impressive track record of results in demanding contexts " and is recognized for his " dynamic presence, inclusive leadership style, and ability to inspire teams ."
“ The Board is confident that he will accelerate our growth plans and strengthen efficiency efforts ,” Bulcke stated, adding that the company “ will not change its strategic course, nor lose momentum in terms of performance .”
Laurent Freixe's departure marked by misconduct.
The leadership transition was precipitated by the departure of Laurent Freixe, who left the company following an internal investigation. Nestlé confirmed that the former CEO violated its Code of Business Conduct by maintaining an undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate, behavior deemed incompatible with the company's governance principles.
“ This was a necessary decision ,” said Paul Bulcke. “ Nestlé’s values and governance are fundamental pillars of our company. I thank Laurent for his years of service .”
