Nestlé implements new professional retraining model in Portugal.

Nestlé is reinforcing its commitment to Human Resources projects by leading the pilot project of the PRO_MOV program, which aims to implement a new culture of professional retraining in Portugal.

In January 2022, the company was the starting point for this European project through a training course aimed at Electromechanical Maintenance Technicians at the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) in Porto.

Over six months, students embarked on intensive training with the highest level of learning retention, preparing them for the next step in the plan: practical training in a real work context, lasting three months and starting on September 19th. It is this practical component, the fact that it is paid, and the ongoing support and guidance of an experienced professional in the field that makes this methodology stand out and decisive in accelerating the trainees' retraining.

Second course

Nestlé is also announcing a second course for Electromechanical Maintenance Technicians next year. Applications will be open from November, with the interview process taking place throughout December, thus giving those interested the opportunity to join an innovative retraining program with a high level of company involvement and support.

“ Investing in the continuous training of our employees, as well as in recruitment and the presentation of new opportunities, is an integral part of Nestlé's culture and values. We see it as an obligation of the private sector to prepare the workforce for a constantly evolving market, and projects like the PRO_MOV program materialize this commitment ,” says Maria do Rosário Vilhena, Head of Human Resources Iberia at Nestlé. “ This is a collaboration between private companies and the public sector on a European scale, and Nestlé is proud to be one of the leading entities in this program, offering trainees new tools through premium support and thus the possibility of building a successful future ,” she concludes.

Combating unemployment

It is worth remembering that Nestlé's commitment to helping combat unemployment has resulted in projects such as the "Alliance for Youth," supporting youth employability in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, as well as the national program, "Dual Education," in partnership with the Aveiro Professional School (EPA), in which Nestlé hosted students from this educational institution at its factories and distribution centers for a three-year course equivalent to the 12th grade.
