The solidarity movement “We are made of people” will help Ukrainian refugee families come to Portugal, in a joint initiative promoted by Delta Cafés, the Lisbon City Council and the consulting firm GCI, which aims to support the refugee population in Ukraine.
The first bus of this movement departs this Friday, March 11th, at 11:00 AM, from the Ukrainian Church of Lisbon, in Praça do Chile, bound for Poland, and will bring back 50 Ukrainian citizens. The bus will carry food, sleeping bags, clothing, and medicine to be delivered to refugees in Poland. A volunteer nurse will also be part of the group to provide necessary care, as well as a translator.
Delta Cafés will handle all logistics, from transportation and meals, and will be available to explore potential employment opportunities in collaboration with official entities. Arrival in Lisbon will be supported by the Lisbon City Council, which will handle all the bureaucratic procedures for these citizens. The return trip is scheduled for March 17th.
Social Responsibility
“ Social responsibility is part of Delta Cafés' DNA. And this initiative only reaffirms our commitment. It is necessary to join forces, to set an example, that everyone's help is essential at such a difficult and sensitive time as this, when people are forced to leave their country because of war. The most important thing is to find solutions to support Ukrainian refugees living in this delicate situation, making things happen to try to make the world and the future of these citizens a little better ,” emphasizes Rui Miguel Nabeiro, CEO of the Nabeiro Delta-Cafés Group.
“ We are made of people, and what our people saw in Poland led us to continue gathering aid ,” says Bruno Batista, CEO of the GCI Group. “ The first trip only included GCI employees; this time, with the support of Delta Cafés and the Lisbon City Council, we will once again travel to the Polish-Ukrainian border and bring more families to Portugal ,” he adds.
