El Corte Inglés in Gaia, Porto, opened its doors 15 years ago. With the motto "We celebrate together, today and always," the department store has prepared a series of institutional and promotional activities to celebrate this special occasion with its customers, partners, and suppliers.
From May 27th to 30th, customers will receive a voucher with 15+15% of the purchase value to spend starting on the 31st, and the supermarket will have 15 new products with special discounts every day between May 27th and June 9th.
During the campaign period, a percentage of sales will be donated to the local branches of the Portuguese Red Cross, SOS Children's Villages, and the Portuguese Association of Parents and Friends of the Mentally Disabled Citizen. As a further token of gratitude to the city of Vila Nova de Gaia for its hospitality over the years, 150 trees will be planted, with the first one symbolically planted in the garden of the City Hall.
To celebrate the investment made 15 years ago in the Greater Porto region, Pedro Abrunhosa was invited for a session of music and words, with very limited capacity, on May 27th at 18 pm. Entitled A Musical Journey, in addition to performing, the singer promises to reveal to publisher Rui Couceiro his journeys as a songwriter over more than 30 years.
On that same day, three exhibitions will be inaugurated: the FC Porto Museum will present pieces, facts and curiosities selected from the club's collection; an exhibition from the Teixeira Lopes House-Museum, the Diogo de Macedo Galleries and the Corpus Christi Convent, three emblematic cultural spaces in the city; and also an exhibition of Replicas of Historical Vessels from the 15th and 16th Centuries, from Quinta da Boeira.
On June 19th, the Anniversary Concert will take place at Casa da Música in Porto, with the presence of various entities from the Greater Porto area and some clients.

With a sales area of 42 square meters spread over 13 floors with more than 200 specialized departments, the Gaia Porto department stores emerged in 2006 as a clear commitment to providing the Greater Porto region with a facility that was previously unavailable, since the commercial concept is different from the formats that the region had in its many commercial spaces.
For 15 years, large department stores built bridges and developed their commercial relationships with hundreds of Portuguese suppliers. In fact, the policy of prospecting for local suppliers has contributed to the fact that, currently, more than 83% of the company's food suppliers are national.
The €250 million investment has revitalized the city of Vila Nova de Gaia. The opening of the store created over 1.500 direct jobs, following a recruitment and training period that, in some cases, exceeded two years.
These were the second El Corte Inglés department stores to open to the public in Portugal, five years after the company opened its first store outside of Spain in Lisbon. With over 80 years in business, El Corte Inglés is a leader in its category in Europe.
