Baileys is the largest global spirits brand to become B Corp certified.
“We are thrilled to join the B Corp movement, a community of brands that use business to implement positive change for people and the planet. We believe that caring is an act of concern, not only for ourselves but for the world around us. As the largest global spirits brand to join the B Corp movement, we look forward to working with B Corp communities across global markets and ensuring we are using the scale of our business to generate a positive impact. While this is an important milestone for Baileys, we know we can do more. We are already looking forward to more initiatives as we move towards our 2030 commitments,” says Jennifer English, Global Brand Director of Baileys.
Certification
The certification attests that Baileys is meeting high standards of performance, accountability, and transparency in factors ranging from employee benefits and charitable donations to best practices in the supply chain. In the certification process across the areas of customers, governance, workers, environment, and community, Baileys achieved the highest score in the categories of workers and environment.
This globally recognized certification is the latest milestone for Baileys in its sustainability journey and supports Diageo's 10-year action plan, "Society 2030: Spirit of Progress". By joining the B Corp community, Baileys becomes one of 5.500 certified companies working worldwide to create a more inclusive, regenerative and equitable economy for people and the planet.
initiatives
Supporting the scores in the employee category, all aspects of the employee experience were taken into consideration, including equality and diversity. As of 2022, 75% of Baileys' leadership team is composed of women, and all Baileys employees have access to benefits such as six months of paid parental leave.
Baileys' score in the environmental category represents the company's dedication to having a more positive impact throughout its supply chain, which includes reducing the amount of water used in its factories and switching to 100% renewable electricity.
To support environmental impact at the agricultural level, Baileys collaborates with the Tirlán cooperative to support Irish farmers who supply Irish cream, a key ingredient in Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur. They have worked together since 1974 and created the Sustainable Cream Initiative in 2013 and the Academy of Sustainable Agriculture in 2022.
“We want to create beverages that consumers enjoy, keeping in mind the brand’s sustainability journey and Diageo’s broader 10-year sustainability action plan. Being certified by B Corp is a great recognition for Baileys and for the team that works so hard in its production, from milk producers to delivery drivers ,” comments Ewan Andrew, President of Global Supply Chain & Procurement and Chief Sustainability Officer at Diageo.
