Samsung TVs with iTunes and AirPlay 2 support starting this spring.

Samsung Electronics announced that, starting in the spring, it will make the new iTunes Movies & TV Shows app and Apple's AirPlay 2 available on its 2019 Smart TV models.

For the first time in the industry, the new iTunes Movies & TV app will be available exclusively on Samsung TVs in over 100 countries (including Portugal). Meanwhile, AirPlay 2 support will be available on Samsung TVs in 190 countries worldwide.

Support for Samsung Smart TV models released in 2018 will be available through a firmware update.

With the new iTunes Movies & TV app on Samsung Smart TVs, customers of the South Korean brand will be able to access their iTunes library and buy or rent hundreds of movies or TV shows through the iTunes Store (including a wide selection of 4K HDR movies). The iTunes Movies & TV app will work with Samsung's smart TV services, such as Universal Guide and New Bixby, aiming to create a consistent experience across the Samsung platform.

With Apple's AirPlay 2 app, customers will be able to view videos, photos, music, podcasts, and other content from their Apple devices directly on Samsung TVs, including Samsung QLED 4K, Samsung QLED 8K, Samsung The Frame, and Samsung Serif, as well as other Samsung Smart TV UHD and HD models. “ We are proud to work with industry leaders to offer the widest range of services across our Smart TV platforms ,” says Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics. “ Making more content, value, and open platform functionality available to Samsung TV owners and Apple customers through iTunes and AirPlay 2 is the ideal way to do it for everyone .”
