Historically, Casa Ramos Pinto declares Vintage on average three times every 10 years. In this decade, vintages were produced in 2011, 2015 and now, in 2017.
In the Douro region, the 2016/2017 vintage year was quite dry, and the entire vegetative cycle of the vines was very early. During the harvest, one of the earliest in the winery's history, the grapes were at their best point of ripeness and balance, highlighting the low yields obtained.
“ After a dizzying harvest, nature was generous and offered us extraordinary wines: concentrated, very aromatic and fresh ,” says Ana Rosas, Master Blender at Casa Ramos Pinto. The profile of the 2017 vintage is ripe, rich and fragrant.
Two years after the harvest, Ramos Pinto Vintages are bottled, beginning their evolution over decades. Their great aging potential is one of their many unique attributes. Bottle aging makes the wine silky and elegant, and over time it acquires refined, balanced, and highly complex aromas.
Ramos Pinto produced nine thousand bottles of Vintage 2017 and nine thousand bottles of Quinta de Ervamoira Vintage 2017.
