For the third consecutive time, the quality of Quintas de Melgaço stood out at the Sakura Japan Women's Wine Awards. The Alvarinho QM and Torre de Menagem wines, both from the 2021 vintage, were awarded gold at the ninth edition of what is the largest and most important wine competition in Asia, organized exclusively by women.
“ We received this news with great joy, and this distinction is an honor for Quintas de Melgaço. This recognition of our wines reflects the work and love for what we do, but also the quality of what we produce. These medals have a special meaning, since it is in such a demanding market as the Eastern one; for us, it is not only a source of pride, but also an affirmation of our brand in such an important market ,” says Pedro Soares, administrator of Quintas de Melgaço.
The wines, produced in the Monção and Melgaço sub-region, won over the palates of 430 judges, who are experts and play active and leading roles in the wine industry in Japan. In this edition, 4.652 wines (from 25 countries) were in competition, of which 1.425 were awarded the gold medal.
The Alvarinho Quintas de Melgaço 2021 is on sale with a recommended retail price of 9,98 euros.
