UPS new cluster

Portugal joins UPS's new Southern Europe "cluster".

A year after appointing Paco Conejo as Country Manager for UPS Italy, the company announces a new role as Head of the new "cluster" for Southern Europe, which includes Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Slovenia. The manager will report to Ufku Akaltan, who recently accepted the position of president of the Western EMEAI region.

Paco Conejo's new role encompasses one of the groups of countries created to promote local growth, "enhancing and supporting the specificities of each market and, simultaneously, supporting internationalization with an increasingly functional network."

This appointment is part of UPS's new organizational structure, which aims to improve agility, speed, and competitiveness in the face of constantly evolving market dynamics. Paco Conejo brings solid regional experience: before leading the Italian market in March 2023, he already held the positions of Director of Operations for the Iberian Peninsula and Director of Operations for Western Europe. “ Throughout my professional career, UPS has provided me with the opportunity to work in various business areas and several geographic regions. I look forward to contributing to the growth of Southern Europe in my new role, with the goal of pursuing excellence across the entire operations network. Our adventure continues as we remain a people-driven company, where every UPS employee plays a decisive role in our success .”

Throughout the past year, Paco Conejo focused on boosting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), strengthening customer exports, increasing the company's presence in the region with the opening of three logistics centers in Puglia, and helping to create a positive and supportive work environment. In addition, it promoted initiatives to support local communities, in partnership with associations such as Pangea ETS, Special Olympics, and Legambiente.
