Number of insolvencies decreasing

The number of insolvencies has been falling for three years, according to Informa D&B.

Contributing to this trend are the signs of economic recovery recorded since 2012, and the creation of the Business Revitalization Process, established in 2012, which gave companies in difficult economic situations and facing imminent insolvency the opportunity to settle their obligations with creditors before entering insolvency.

Between 2013 and 2015, there were 24,7% fewer insolvency proceedings, reversing the significant growth recorded between 2010 and 2012 (67%).

The study data shows that, despite the decline in insolvencies, sole proprietors are gaining ground in the total number of registered businesses. Between 2010 and 2015, their share increased from 11% to 24%.

The sectoral profile of insolvency proceedings also changed. Between 2010 and 2015, the importance of the Manufacturing and Construction sectors in insolvency proceedings decreased by 11 and four percentage points, respectively, but the Services and Retail sectors increased in relative terms by six and four percentage points, respectively.
