Dachser is about to begin construction of a transport terminal for industrial and food products in northern Germany, in the Neumünster industrial zone. Construction will begin in September, and the building is planned to open in the third quarter of 2020. The investment in the new goods transport and distribution center is around €17,4 million, and it is expected to create approximately 30 jobs.
The ceremony to unveil the site where the center will be built was attended by Olaf Tauras, Mayor of Neumünster, and Alexander Tonn, Managing Director of European Logistics Germany, which is responsible for the German branches of Dachser's land transport and logistics business unit. According to Tonn, “ Neumünster will be another key terminal for Dachser in northern Germany. The location will allow direct connection to the extensive European land transport network .” Alexander Tonn added that “ the new construction complies with quality standards, promoting employment in logistics in the region .”
The new terminal, which will integrate 76 docks for loading and unloading goods, will occupy a total area of 6.700 square meters: five thousand dedicated to industrial goods and 1.700 that will be refrigerated and restricted to the transport of food products.
The space will also include a 1,000-square-meter office building. This new Dachser center will serve the entire Schleswig-Holstein region and will be connected to the Dachser European Logistics land transport network, which has 85 direct lines, ensuring more than three thousand daily connections throughout Europe. It should also be noted that from the Iberian Peninsula, Dachser offers 15 connections to Germany, 13 of which are daily connections to German cities such as Ueberherrn, Dortmund, Gersthofen, and Malsch, among others.
