Every Can Counts arrives in Portugal.

Every Can Counts, which in Portugal is called “Cada Lata Conta”, is an environmental awareness program for recycling beverage cans. In Portugal, Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) will be the partner in implementing this initiative at the Tomorrowland festival, taking place in Porto on Saturday, July 27th at 16:00 PM, and at Meo Sudoeste, in Zambujeira do Mar, from August 6th to 10th.

At both festivals, a group of young people will be walking around the venue with yellow backpacks to collect cans. They will interact with the public, raising awareness about the importance of recycling and the circular economy.

The campaign's objective is to raise awareness of the importance of recycling in all places of consumption. At home, on vacation, or even at summer festivals. In this way, CCEP Portugal wants to sensitize the public to the need for and advantages of recycling.

Beverage cans are made of metallic materials that can be recycled countless times without losing their properties. Therefore, each recycled can can be given a new life, either as a can or even as another product, such as a bicycle or a space satellite.

Pablo García, organizer of the initiative, states, “ We are very pleased to be present in Portugal for the first time. This is a country that shares the philosophy of our program. Our goal is to collaborate with major musical and sporting events to make them more sustainable. We are certain that this is the beginning of an important journey in the country .”

At these festivals, CCEP continues to focus on the sustainability of the bars within the venue with its service using returnable glass bottles, which allows for 35 reuses and reduces waste production.

The initiative was first launched in 2009 in the United Kingdom, and has since been implemented in 14 European countries.
