Old Soalheiro Bagaceira Brandy

Topaz color, complex, delicate and fragrant aroma revealing a perfect harmony between the character of the Alvarinho grape variety and prolonged aging in oak casks .” This is how Aguardente Bagaceira Velha Soalheiro, a selection of numbered bottles now arriving on the market, is described.

After aging for over 20 years, alternating between new and used oak casks, this pomace brandy, produced from the distillation of the finest pomace of the Alvarinho grape variety, acquires a smooth and very persistent flavor.

The aromatic skins of Alvarinho grapes, separated from the must by pressing during the harvest, fermented for about a month in an anaerobic environment. This fermentation transformed the residual sugar into alcohol, extracting the best aromas from the skins. Slow distillation in a traditional still helped to concentrate these aromas, resulting in a very aromatic brandy characteristic of the Alvarinho grape variety.

 

Distillation of the finest grape pomace since 1999

Aguardente Bagaceira Velha Alvarinho Soalheiro emerged in 1999, with the launch of the first series of 1.428 numbered bottles. Since the first harvest, the production of this brandy has been subject to the distillation of the best Alvarinho pomace, aging over the years in oak casks, from which it extracts the color and structure that complement the intense aroma of the grape variety.

From the manual corking to the sealing, there are many details that make this brandy even more special.
