Free delivery leads preferences on food apps.

Over 60% of users of food delivery apps prefer free delivery, while only 25% join loyalty programs.

Discounts and promotions are the main deciding factor for more than half of Portuguese users of food delivery apps, while 46% value overall prices, according to the Bolt Food Habits Report.

Among the available promotions, free delivery is the most attractive, chosen by more than 60% of users. This is followed by "2 for 1" offers and discounts on menu prices.

Only 25% participate in loyalty programs.

Despite the importance attributed to these benefits, only 1 in 4 users is enrolled in loyalty programs, which often include free deliveries.

According to Daniel Glusman, Head of Bolt Food in Portugal, “ the delivery fee is that extra cost that nobody particularly likes to pay: it doesn't add anything to the dish and, order after order, it ends up weighing on the total value. Therefore, it's not surprising that free delivery is the most valued promotion by consumers. What is surprising is that only 25% of users are enrolled in loyalty programs, such as Bolt Plus, which allow them to benefit from this type of advantage .”

The spokesperson therefore highlights the opportunity to publicize the benefits of subscriptions, which can help consumers manage their delivery expenses.
