Diageo has opened a new factory in North America with the goal of boosting the ready-to-drink category. With the capacity to produce more than 25 million cases of beverages, the factory is located in Plainfield, Illinois.
“ We are incredibly proud of the speed and innovative approach of our team and partners in their efforts to build this space in record time. Diageo Lincolnway will be instrumental in accelerating our convenience offering and helping to meet consumer demand ,” says Michael L. Nelson Jr., Senior Vice President of Manufacturing & Distillation at Diageo North America.
Ready to drink
With an investment of approximately $110 million (around €100,33 million), the factory employs 50 people. The facility produces some of the latest innovations from brands such as Smirnoff, Crown Royal's "ready-to-drink" cocktails, and Ketel One Botanical Vodka Spritz.
To grow in this category, last year the company also announced the purchase of the Loyal 9 Cocktails brand from Sons of Liberty Spirits Company, which offers ready-to-drink vodka-based cocktails combined with fruit flavors and a 9% alcohol content.
