Decathlon has opened its first permanent store in Japan, located in the Hankyu Nishinomiya shopping center in Nishinomiya, between the cities of Kobe and Osaka.
The new store includes the French retailer's own brands, such as Quechua, Domyos and Kalenji, and features rooms where customers can test the products.
The opening of this store represents the culmination of a process that began in 2015, when Decathlon launched its own online store. Two years later, it opened a showroom in Osaka, called Decathlon Lab.
The Japanese market is important to the sporting goods supply chain because it is the second largest market, after the United States, in terms of sports participation, with a population of 127 million people.
