Coviran Plus arrives in Portugal

Coviran opened its first supermarket in Portugal this week under a new commercial concept with its own name: Coviran Plus.

This is an important achievement for the Granada cooperative and its members, who, from this moment on, will be able to join a modern and innovative business model, both in management and image, proven successful for 10 years in Spain.

The first Coviran Plus establishment is the Oceano Supermarket, located in Albufeira, in the Faro district (Rua Petroves), and is managed by partner José Geraldo Barreto. This business integrates the latest technological elements to guarantee the best customer service and greater profitability of the point of sale. It boasts a modern image that is evident from the exterior, inviting customers to enter and enjoy a renewed shopping experience in a more accessible and comfortable space that seeks to provide excellent customer service – what the cooperative considers to be a " card of identity " for Coviran.

This establishment has 500 square meters of sales area, three checkout counters, and offers everything customers need to conveniently do their daily shopping close to home. Its product range guarantees a personalized offering for Portuguese customers, featuring quality local products.

This supermarket offers the typical sections of a neighborhood store: a butcher's and delicatessen with assisted service, as well as a bakery and fruit shop with self-service, takeaway, and a cafeteria. It also includes a dedicated area for ham, one of the most appreciated gourmet products. This business employs a team of 14 people, all from the local area.

Recently, Coviran also launched its Business School in Portugal, providing training to employees of this store, which is now opening with the new Coviran Plus concept. Specifically, training covered fresh produce, merchandising, customer service, and point-of-sale management. New technologies and all areas of management are addressed at the Business School to increase the efficiency and profitability of these establishments, as well as the satisfaction of their customers.

It has been 10 years since the new Coviran concept was born, a project that embraced the evolution of the traditional supermarket without losing the essence of the cooperative model and its proximity format.
