Aldi has launched a new branding label in the UK for stores with a smaller-than-usual footprint.
Aldi Local has opened in the London borough of Balham and is positioning itself to compete with Tesco Express and Sainsbury's Local.
This store will serve as a test to analyze potential future expansion. Aldi is studying the possibility of expanding the brand to four more locations in London.
Operating since March 14th, the Aldi Local store occupies 600 square meters, half the average size of the group's establishments. It is open from 7 am to 11 pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 23 am to 17 pm on Sundays.
The discounted price is proportional to the available space, with 1.500 items in total. It offers refrigerated and ready-made meal sections, as well as a bakery area and a fully stocked wine cellar.
