It was in 1836 that Manoel Moreira Garcia, an industrialist of Galician origin, acquired the ruins of the convent and established the Trindade Brewery, the first brewery in Portugal.

The success was such that Manoel Garcia decided to open a beer-by-the-glass bar and, later, a brewery consisting of four rooms and a patio.

In 1854, the Trindade Brewery became the official supplier to the Royal Household.

In the 20th century, the factory was acquired by Sociedade Central de Cervejas, which took over beer production. In the 1940s, the building was restored and modernized, and the brewery was opened to the public as a dining hall.

In the 21st century, the Portugália Restauração Group was entrusted with the mission of keeping Portugal's oldest brewery alive. And, in 2018, Cervejaria Trindade continues with the same purpose as five centuries ago: to keep memory and tradition alive, preserving history, culture, and gastronomy.

With over five centuries as the Convent of the Holy Trinity and more than 180 years as a brewery, Trindade remains the oldest brewery in Portugal.
