Quinta de Lemos, in the Dão region, was one of the big winners of the 2020 Brussels World Competition, receiving the Revelation Award for Portugal, an award given to only one producer per country.
Four of the wines produced by Hugo Chaves, winemaker at Quinta de Lemos since its founding, were also awarded prizes: the Touriga Nacional 2010 received the Grand Gold Medal, the highest award, and the Dona Georgina 2013, Dona Georgina 2010 and Touriga Nacional 2013 wines received the Gold Medal.
According to Hugo Chaves, " receiving these awards from this competition, one of the most prestigious in the world, is proof of the consistent quality of our wines and, as such, is very welcome ."
Competition
The Brussels World Wine Competition took place between September 4th and 6th in Brno, Czech Republic, where 8.500 wines from 46 wine-producing countries were tasted. Every year, it seeks to distinguish the best wines from all continents, within a wide price range. The tasting is blind, and not even the Covid-19 pandemic prevented the tasters, a panel of professionals, opinion leaders, and players in the global wine economy, from participating.
