A study by IRI highlights the growing "plasticphobia" in Europe, where three-quarters of consumers want to buy products with environmentally friendly packaging.
Younger Millennials, aged 18 to 24, are less concerned than older shoppers about buying environmentally friendly products. The same applies to sustainability, with only 30% of those consumers buying local products.
The study reflects the habits of 3.300 consumers in seven European markets. Italians are particularly attentive to the issue of environmentally friendly packaging (81%), followed by Spaniards (75%) and Greeks and French (both at 74%). In contrast, Germans are the least concerned about the packaging of the products they buy (61%).
