The Portuguese-French Chamber of Commerce discusses the future of the agri-food sector in Portugal.

From agri-tech to cellular agriculture, and including new proteins: Lisbon hosts a debate on the future of the agri-food sector.

The Portuguese-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILF) is organizing the conference “The Agri-food Sector in Portugal – Innovations and Opportunities” on April 22nd.

The event brings together companies, experts, and decision-makers to discuss the ongoing transformations in a sector that, by 2025, will represent 13,3% of national goods exports, with a value of 10,6 billion euros.

Program

The program is divided into three thematic panels. The first analyzes the general panorama of sectorIt features interventions by Deolinda Silva, executive director from PortugalFoods, by Anouk Veber, head of venture from Sparkfood (Sonae), and Ricardo Macedo, director of category management FMCG from Auchan Retail Portugal.

The second panel focuses on the agri-tech and their concrete application cases. Taking the stage are José Diogo Carmelino, co-founder of Horta 34, and Filipa Soares, CTO of Cell4Food. startup Portuguese blue biotechnology company dedicated to the development of cellular agriculture technologies for the production of farmed fish, mollusks and crustaceans.

Closing the panel, José Miguel Pinho, lawyer at RBMS, addresses the legal implications of data, artificial intelligence, and contracts in... agri-tech.

The third panel focuses on food-tech And in the new food frontiers: alternative proteins, supplements, and personalized nutrition. Luisa Cruz, co-founder and CTO of MicroHarvest, presents the case of new proteins. startup A German-origin company with operations in Lisbon produces sustainable protein ingredients through microbial fermentation, using agricultural by-products as raw material, with a protein content exceeding 60%. Filipe Pedrulho Poço, Country General Manager From EPSA, it addresses incentives and funding opportunities for R&D in Portugal.

The program also includes a performance by Audrey Ashworth. event director From SIAL Paris, regarding the novelties of this year's edition. A debate between the participants will follow.
